Father Peter Souritzidis
Father Peter came to
the United States from Megara, Greece in 1975 as a high
school graduate. He studied English and enrolled at
Northeastern University in Boston where he studied
Electrical Engineering. For the next ten years he held
positions in sales and marketing for engineering firms
and during that time he completed his Masters in
Business Administration.
In the late 1970’s
while he was a student he worked as a custodian for St.
Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Quincy, MA. God used
this interface with His Church to call father to the
Priesthood. Years later, married with three children, he
entered Holy Cross Seminary where he received his
Master’s of Divinity and was ordained in 1994.
Father Peter served
the Parish of Saint George in Ocean City, Maryland, for
five years, during which time major additions to the
Church were built.
For the next ten
years, he served the Parish of Sts Constantine and
Helen in Orange, NJ. After the decision to merge with
Saint Nicholas of Newark, during Father’s ministry the
merger was successfully completed and the construction
of the new Church in Roseland, Ss Nicholas, Constantine
and Helen began.
Father Peter serves as
a Chaplain with the rank of Major in the U.S. Air Force
Reserves and he is the Wing Chaplain at McGuire Air
Force Base, NJ.
Father Peter is married
to Presvytera Gigi and they have three sons, Timothy,
Arthur and Daniel. |
